Exciting news from the President!
Hello Parents and Swimmers,
I hope you have all enjoyed the summer months with your family and friends. What a fantastic warm and sunny summer we had and hopefully will have into September. I’m not ready to see the warm days of summer disappear yet.
The Board of Directors (BOD) have had a busy summer with the swim club operations as we try to get things organized for the beginning of our fall swim session – October 6th. The following are some highlights of what your BOD has been up to.
New Head Coach – One of our first priorities was to establish a recruitment committee to search for a new Head Coach. I would like to thank Jude MacKenzie and Larisa Valentin for their help with the interview process. I’m pleased to announce that Brandi Higgins is our new Head Coach for the swim club. We are excited to work with Brandi this year and know that her coaching experience over the years will bode well for the club. Welcome Brandi!
New Assistant Coach – We are excited to have Saxon Farnworth join the coaching staff this year. His experience with swimming and coaching in Australia will be an asset to our club. Welcome Saxon!
New Website – A huge thank you to Larisa Valentin and Rachel Curtis for their time and expertise getting the site up and running this summer. One of the highlights of the website is it allows parents to register online and pay online – yeah!! There is a lot of information on this site that will help you not only register your swimmer but inform you of training times, swim meets and club events. Please visit www.whistlerseawolves.com and have a read.
New Training Group Structure – Brandi has updated and renamed some of the training groups. Please see the website for more details.
New Pricing Structure – We have reviewed and changed our pricing structure this year. We have moved to a tiered pricing structure for our different training groups. We felt this was a necessary change and is fair to all members. This information will be on the website by Thursday, September 4th.
Grant Funds – I’m happy to report that we received $15,000.00 from the provincial gaming grant this summer. We will be allocating these funds for provincial championship expenses, specialized training sessions and swim training gear for the swimmers.
Swim Meet - We will be hosting our first sanctioned swim meet this year in May 2015. We will be requiring help from parents and swimmers to make this meet successful. Please stay tuned on the details for the preparation steps we need to take as a club to be ready for May. Cheryl Skribe will take the lead on this event – thank you Cheryl.
Volunteering – The swim club is growing and changing in many ways. If you would like to be involved please let me know. The BOD would certainly appreciate the help.
I’m certainly looking forward to another successful swim season. I would like to thank all our parents and swimmers for your continued support of WSWSC over the years, and to the Board of Directors who have worked hard to ensure that the WSWSC moves into the future with continued strength and stability.
Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns or general feedback about the swim club. You can contact me at email@example.com.
