Sea Wolves Pass Meet

  • All volunteers except those on set-up and tear-down are needed from 1:30 pm until the end of the meet (approximately 6:30 pm) .

  • Set-up and tear-down volunteers need to be at the pool from 1-1:30 pm and from 6:00-6:30 pm (ish).

  • Snacks (e.g. fruit and veggie platters) will be provided, but it’s a good idea to bring water.

  • Shorts and flips-flops are also a good idea—you are likely to get at least a little wet.

Volunteer Roles

1. Referee/Starter (1)
Starts each event. *Training required.

2. Electronics (1)
Manages the meet using Meet Manager software. *Training required.

3. Electronics Assistant (1)
Assists with managing the meet using Meet Manager software. *Previous experience required.

4. Clerk of Course (1)
In charge of everything. *Previous experience required.

5. Chief Timekeeper (1)
Organizes and briefs the Timekeepers prior to meet start and is in charge of the lane timers throughout the meet. *Previous experience required.

6. Food (1)
Organizes and serves snacks to the volunteers on the pool deck.

7. Marshalls (2)
Organize swimmers into their race groups on the pool deck to minimize time between races.

8. Stroke & Turns (4)
Work in pairs on each side of the pool, ruling on infractions on their side of the pool only. They observe strokes, turns, and finishes to see that swimmers comply with requirements for that stroke. *Training is required for this position (we usually hold a training clinic in the spring.)

9. Timekeepers (12-18)
Record the swimmers’ times. Each timekeeper is provided with a stopwatch and assigned a lane. Two timers are assigned to each lane. Both times are recorded and the average time becomes the official time. This job gives you a good view of the pool and swimmers during their races.

10. Set-Up & Tear Down (3)
Set up the pool area for the swim meet and return the pool area to its previous state at the end of the meet. *There may be heavy lifting.

11. Greeter (2)
Greet meet attendees as they enter the side doors at MPSC and direct them as necessary. Greeters will need to scan COVID-19 Vaccine QR codes for all non-swimming attendees aged 12+.
